Published: 03/28/2022
The Crop Protection Network (CPN) is excited to announce eight new encyclopedia resources focused on insect pests commonly found in alfalfa. These articles assist alfalfa farmers by determining specific pest issues through an in-depth look at pest entomology, identifying crop injury, scouting, and management of infestation.

These alfalfa resources were created by the Alfalfa Pest Management Working Group, a multistate group of scientists and extension workers that receives funding through the North Central Integrated Pest Management Center. The project was led by Dr. Damon Smith, an Extension plant pathologist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Adam Sisson, an Iowa State University extension specialist.
These and other Crop Protection Network (CPN) encyclopedia articles contain multiple images and basic identification information, including general management recommendations and life cycle illustrations. Articles are searchable by plant part impacted and time of season present to help narrow down possible results.
This publication was developed by the Crop Protection Network, a multi-state and international collaboration of university/provincial extension specialists and public/ private professionals that provides unbiased, research-based information to farmers and agricultural personnel.
