Slug Damage

Issue: Insects, Mites, and Slugs

Scounted in Columbia County, WI on June 25th, 2024

Slug Damage

Details:

Slug damage was observed in emerging soybeans. Cotyledon damage is present and many stems are cut. Around 50-75% of the site was showing damage and slugs were observed to be present. These soybeans were no-till planted into a cereal rye cover crop that was crimped after planting.

Conclusion:

Growers should assess stands and decide to replant if stands are below 80,000 plants per acre, but only if it is before June 20 in Wisconsin.
