Millipedes

Details:

Millipedes were observed in Southern Wisconsin in soybeans at the VC (cotyledon) growth stage. Damage to the young soybean plants wasn't extensive, but feeding was observed on the cotyledons and upper stems. Millipedes tend to be more present in fields with high levels of organic matter or residue. Milder winters may also lead to higher numbers of the pest.

Conclusion:

Insecticides may be effective IF they come into contact with the millipedes, but there is little research to support their use. Planting later when the soil temperatures are higher may help avoid millipede issues in no-till fields with heavy crop residue. You can learn more in this article by UNL CropWatch.
