Soybean seedlings at the V2 (second trifoliate) growth stage were observed showing symptoms of Pythium Seedling Blight and Root Rot. Pythium species are the cause of damping off in soybeans pre- or post-emergence. Often infected seeds will appear rotten, with soil sticking to them. Lesions appear on seedlings on the hypocotyl or cotyledon and seedlings are easily pulled from the soil.
