Deer Feeding

Details:

Deer damage was observed in late May on maturity group 5 beans that were planted the last week of April. Many soybeans exhibit damage consistent with chewing/eating in the leaves and stems. Most injured plants were damaged above the cotyledonary node, hopefully giving these plants the chance to recover. Damage was present on less than 25% of the site, mainly concentrated along a tree line.

Conclusion:

There are limited options for soybean producers facing deer damage. Learn more about deer damage in soybeans in this article from NC State Extension. Additional resources include this article from University of Missouri Extension or this research summary from Michigan State University Extension
