Bean Binoculars Incident

Drought

Issue: Abiotic Factor

Scounted in Madison County, OH on August 1st, 2024

Drought

Details:

Symptoms associated with drought were scouted in a soybean field at the R5 (beginning seed) growth stage. Many leaves are flipped over and ~75% of the site was exhibiting symptoms.

Conclusion:

Most fields in Ohio do not have irrigation. If conditions are dry, manage other inputs, such as foliar fungicide, wisely. With dry conditions, foliar diseases are less of a concern and soybeans are less likely to have a positive yield response to foliar fungicide application.
