Soybean Cyst Nematode

Issue: Pathogen

Soybean Cyst Nematode

Details:

Soybean cyst nematodes (SCN) were identified on V3 (third trifoliate) soybeans. Soybeans had poorly developed root systems and the nematodes were observed on roots. Other signs of SCN may include stunting, slow canopy closure, and chlorotic leaves.

Conclusion:

Proper management can reduce SCN numbers, but SCN cannot be eliminated from a field. In the future, consider planting resistant varieties and include non-host species in crop rotations. Clean tillage equipment well to reduce the spread from field to field. No-till practices may help lower SCN populations. You can learn more using the button below.
